john Dickson and son, Edinburgh, Mauser rifle
      #395930 - 18/01/26 08:23 AM

Does anyone know if Dickson of Edinburgh has begun to make Mauser bunting rifles at a very modest price? Although the ownership changed recently, their offerings of shotguns and double rifles are still expensive

here is an example from Cabela's https://www.cabelas.com/p/101914021

thanks

don

I have written John Dickson and Son to enquire if they make such hunting rifles

I have found a british chat group that discusses the Dickson Mauser hunting rifle

https://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/threads/john-dickson-270.129613/

it seems that in the 1980s Dickson, Rigby and Churchill used Parker Hale rifles, or military actions, with some cosmetic improvements to make a low cost hunting rifle.

thanks; I guess i have answered my own question, but might be of general interest

Don

Sorry Don - I haven't heard of them. Is it in Nanaimo, or Tsawwassen Bas Pro?

Cabela's in the US

there is a Dickson in 243 in Canada at Great NORTH gUNS https://greatnorthgunco.ca/product/john-dickson-son-hunting-rifle-in-243-mauser-action/

i WILL NOT PURSUE

it reminds me of gunshows about 30 years ago when all kinds of military surplus rifles, Mauser and lee Enfields, were sporterized by famous british makers, like Boss, Westley Richards, and Cogswell & Harrison, for about $150. A sign of the desperation of that period
