Charlie Kirk murder weapon
      #393403 - 14/09/25 12:40 AM

Sorry to raise this ugly topic, and I won't get into the politics, but this is a gun forum.

The weapon has been described as a Mauser 98 in .30-06. The words "older" and "imported" have also been mentioned, and apparently the suspected killer believed the fact that it was not an ordinary rifle was in his favor. The rifle was apparently scoped.

An older, imported Mauser 98 in .30-06 could be anything from an original Mauser sporter (A, B, M) to a European bolt gun in that caliber built on the 98 action (military or commercial). It could also be an American custom creation. As far as I know there are no military bolt action rifles chambered in .30-06 other than the 1903 Springfield.

Any thoughts on this?

Back in about 1973 or 1974, I gave my brother a Model98 in .30/06 for his birthday.
I recall that it had a laminated military stock, bent bolt(not cut and re-welded) and normal iron sights and a "stepped" barrel. I assume i had purchased it from Allen Lever's, "Lever Arms" in Vancouver. That's store always had interesting stock. I.believe I paid somewhere under $100.00 for it. He had a "barrel" full of them.
Taylor used it with 150gr. factory loads on the small island deer on Graham Island of the now called Haida Gwaii.
The "Islands" were called Queen Charlott Islands.
He said that rifle was the "Hammer of Thor".
Quite obviously, it must have been re-barreled military rifle, however it's appearance did not make that obvious.

Rest in Peace, Charlie. You are already missed.

My Colombian M98 barrelled action has a stepped .30-06 barrel. Probably rebarrelled at FN.

No problem opening a thread on the politics forum, on the assassination of Charlie Kirk. A great advocate for the First and Second Amendments. Advocated for free speech, peaceful debate, Christian values, not violence. The fact many on the left have cheered his assassination shows how vile and degenerate they have become.

There are also questions about the bullet as the choice for .30-06 is very wide.

I haven't heard whether they've recovered the bullet that killed Charlie. They'll need that to tie the rifle to the crime and the bullet will need to be in halfway decent shape.

Also, questions about how he concealed the gun. In the 'limping' video he appears to be holding the buttstock with his right hand to keep it from flopping around. That would make the rifle maybe 42" long, which seems about right. But where was the rifle when he jumped off the roof?
