Another Holloway Hammer Gun
      #392612 - 24/07/25 08:07 AM

Picked up another Holloway and Co Hammer gun. This one has steel barrels and a bit higher grade than the others I have. Anson push rod fore end, and some bird scenes below the lumps. Very good case coloring which is what got me. Small crack on the left side. Has not been used much for a gun that is from earlier than 1909. Screws are not even burred up. 2 3/4 chambers, nitro proved. Good honest bird gun. Love hammer guns as no else much seems too and they are relatively cheap and so much fun to shoot.

That is a very nice looking double gun. It's good that many people don't want hammer guns as that means they are more affordable. Hammer guns are fun to shoot.

Very nice find Claydog. Beautiful game gun. Over the years, far too many fine side by side hammer guns have been bought up by people who do not understand them and who cut their barrels cut down to make "stagecoach guns" for home defense and what-have-you...

Glad to see she went to someone who both appreciates what she is and who will continue to use her for what she was made for.

Yes, more than just a little bit!
Love top-lever hammer guns, very elegant as a genre.
Keep hoping for an affordable TLH ejector, with island locks even (!), but they're all Purdeys... Beyond my meagre pocket.
While waiting for favorable lotto numbers, I would be most happy with a Holloway like that.
A genuine sleeper? Replacement left hammer perhaps, but does not detract.
Good score, Clay!

Was interested to see if anyone would pick up on the left hammer. Well played Marrakai. Not sure what went on there guess I will never know. Shot it over the weekend and it shoots well. Also found a skull very lightly engraved on the barrel flats that looks like a signature of whoever did the bird scenes.
