SUNSHINE, I've been handleing double rifle for about 60 yrs, and I've never seen a nickel plated double rifle! I'm not saying there has not been one or two, but I do say they are not common if they exist at all.

B.Searcy made an all stainless steel double, rifle with a syntheic stock, for a short time, intended for bear hunting in Alaska's wet climate. It didn't sell well at all, and was discontinued after only a few were made! A couple of these ended up in RSA, and may have been mistaken for nickel plated doubles!

A stainless, synthetic 450/400 Searcy, with a scope in QD mounts, on a smaller frame, would be just the ticket for Alaska and other rough weather hunting.

Just do not let Ray see that I said this.

Let's start an eruption in America by buying Ray a
A stainless, synthetic 450/400 Searcy, with a scope in QD mounts,
on a smaller frame !!!

It would look so nice in his gun rack next to all of his English guns.

I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

My Krieghoff Classic is nickel plated - I had ordered it with a nickel finish. Now I regret it because nickel and engravings don't like each other : the engravings look poor due to the nickel-plating... S...!

Are you sure the engraving looks bad because of the nickel finish?

SUNSHINE, do you mean the whole rifle is nickel plated, or just the frame? If your origenal question was nickel plated action only, then there have been several, over the years,some even chrome plated, usually on cheap Spanish rifles. Most of the silvered actions, where not plated at all, but polished coin finish, or the so-called French silvered action.

The actions on all new Searcys are silver colored, but are high strength stainless steel, not plated
