I like the Duo.

How much for one of those in 450no2NE?
What's the lead time from now till product is available?

That 10-shot model looks marvellous!! ...although there are some here who won't appreciate the flop-open design.

Keep up the good work!

The 10 shot is a solid design, I'll test it this weekend with my new .375 Double! One of the greatest problem I see is folks eithe carry too much ammo, or not enough. The 10 shot to me is a solid piece of equipment

Aleko,
My comments on the prototypes.
I used a 15 round belt from Murray Leather in Zim 2004 for both my 450 No2, and my 9,3x74R. I also have Murray buttstock shell carriers on both rifles. I like to carry a lot of ammo as most every day we were several hours walk from the truck. The Murray belt has good spacing between the rounds, but the 15 round capacity goes about halfway around my body.
SO, on your 6 round carrier I would prefer the rounds to have equal spacing between the rounds as I think I am to "fumblefingured" to pull out 2 at the same time.
A good idea would be to have the 6 round carrier, and the 10 round "floppy" on you belt at the same time, which would take up less belt space than my 15 round belt.
I always load first off of the buttstock shell carrier, and replentish the buttstock carrier from my belt ammo at the first opportunity.

I have seen several Africase products when I have been to Aleko's store and they are well made, with nice leather.
The codura rifle cases are nice too.

Tony,

I bought a new Blaser S2 in .375 H&H. I'll have it tomorrow. I have been shooting one on and off for a year. The quality, the interchangeability, accuracy, all made sense to me. Very excited

Keep me informed on how the S2 shoots and extracts.
I have had such good service out of the Blaser products I have used I may get one for me. I would like to have a 375 H&H double.
Let me know how she shoots at 100 and 200 yards with a scope.

Dummies for the Duo... [Re: Ratel74]
      #39182 - 16/10/05 02:50 AM

Aleko-

The pair of 450no2 dummies just left my hands via USPS and should get to you by tuesday at the latest. Thanks for the moment on the telephone.

For those of you who haven't spoken to him yet, this guy's absolutely easy and pleasant to deal with.

I ordered a couple of the 6 round open tops yesterday! One for my 470NE, and one for the little 9.3X74R! I might get a couple of the 10 rd boxes as well, one for each! Really nice stuff!

The two 5 shot Africases I have from Aleko are absolutly top notch when it comes to quality and workmanship. The leather and stiching is better than any other makes I've handled.

Keep up the good work Aleko!

Aleko-

Thanks for making up my 450no2 Duo!

It's great, it wears well and keeps two handy and out of the way, doesn't take up an acre of belt space, it's gonna be perfect.

The price was very good too.

How does the DUO work. Strapped to the belt? Can it be strapped to a wrist?

The duo is set up with a belt loop cut into the back piece of leather.
It sits close and tight on the belt, the cartridges snug against my side.
Wearing it is similarly comfortable and unobtrusive as a 1911 single stack mag in an open top pouch.

Aleko's saddle man made the pockets for the rounds to fit well and to be easy to get the rounds out.

Could it work out on a wrist strap?
Hm.
Really hadn't thought of that myself, but with a wide watch band, I think for this I'd go for one of the leather velcro ones from the Timex watch band display at the local hardware store, it'd work out just fine.

The work I've done with my Tolley on shooting-and-rechambering a pair of rounds has been done with two in my left hand.
The gun's a Jones underlever gun, after the second shot I get the heel of my left hand on the lever to open the gun while the thumb of my right hand peels the hammers back to full cock, let the brass fall, slip the two from my left hand in the chambers and close the gun on the way back to my shoulder. There the gun's loaded and ready to send another pair if I choose.
I can see how the two-on-the right wrist would be handy if a third pair were needed so quick.
For what I'd put this rifle against here on the west coast, anything that would persist (save for a gang of feral tusker hogs) after four shots (or still be there after four misses) would be gone into the woods and out of sight by the time the third pair were handy. Mind you the Tolley is a BPE gun and the brass *most nearly* resembles 450no2NE. I'm not pointing this thing at charging rhino, but come to think of it, if I take that job in Hawaii I may end up getting to go after some of those transplanted feral charging bulls out there...

But yes, I think the DUO would work out quite well on the wrist.

We have toyed with the idea of a wrist carrier. I think you would want to wear it on the underside of your arm much like an archery arm guard

After receiving my 6 round carrier, the idea of a duo wrist carrier sounds great to me.

The quality and useability of my 6 round carrier has been great in practice. I'll ger to use it in the field this weekend. Only deer hunting, but we do a lot of posting and walk up driving of deer and shooting can get kind of fast. We'll see if my 9.3x74R double and I can keep up. With a limit of 5 deer, the chances are pretty good around here.

Good luck.
