A Custom built 350 Rem Mag - Leonard Mews Mannlicher Stock
I recently purchased this nice Custom rifle from a seller on a classified forum. It appears the Douglas barrel and metal-work was done by PD Cain in Dec. 1966 as marked "Douglas Barrel by PD Cain 122966", but the stock / checkering was gone by Leonard Mews. I found Leonard's a very light stamp in the barrel channel - now enhanced with some dark stain. The seller's description tells all. A field test will follow next week.

Very nice!
My own .350 RM is a semi-custom M660 with 20" barrel in the original stock. As shown with a sling, stock pack, scope and rings, it just barely breaks 8lbs. It's also extremely accurate.

That's a nice 660. I also have a 600 in 350 Rem Mag.

That's pretty cool.
I had a 660 in 6.5 Rem Mag when I was a kid. I used it for shooting groundhogs in South Western Ontario. Noisy little thing.

I take both along to deer camps. The M660 is scoped but in foul weather (rain, snow) I prefer using my M600 which has a receiver mounted aperture sight. We had to modify the height of the "sharkfin" front sight on the rib to make it work with the aperture so that POA = POI at 100yds. I run it with a 3-pt Ching Sling.
The only drawback, if you can call it that, to the M600s and M660s is their 2.800 short-action. It limits bullet selection once you starting looking at .358" projectiles above 200grns. My M660 actually seems to prefer the .358" 250grn bullets, especially SPs, but I have to look for the shorter types to avoid having to seat the bullet way deep in the case.
I've got some .358" 300grn bullets on the way from Hawk. Bought them on a whim just to play with to see if I can find a usable "heavy" load at moderate velocity.

As my post above shows, the custom on the O3-A3 action allows for longer cartridges and the chamber has a deep throat to allow for heavier bullets seated longer.

Yes, there were long-action rifles chambered in .350RM and, as you stated, they allow for a "long-loaded" cartridge unrestricted by the 600's/660's 2.800" COAL.
A good source for obtaining load data with longer-seated bullets is the .350RM chapter in Ken Waters' "Pet Loads" tome. He was developing and chronographing loads using an early Ruger M77. It had rifle sights and was scoped. Barrel was 22", IIRC. Waters developed some very accurate and very fast loads.

Hello Nick,
Years ago I had both Remington 700s in 6.5 mag and 350 mag. Both were very rare and like the 600 .223, too valuable to keep. I have Ken's Pet Loads book.
We had a nice warm day today. It got up to 39 degrees - so I went to the range to test a couple loads with the 350 Rem Mag. I just might use this for Bear hunting this Fall.
