"Jungle Stories "

At the Rigby premises.
"Also on display in a protective book clamshell box, is a rare copy of Jim Corbett's first book, Jungle Stories. With only 100 copies printed in 1935 for family and friends, this is now a very scarce item, with only a handful known to still be in existence. "

Does anyone know if this book was ever reprinted? Reproduced online? As an audio book?

UGG .... AI preview ...

Jungle Stories is a book by James Edward Corbett that was privately published in 1935:

Author
James Edward Corbett (1875 - 1955) was an Indian-born British hunter, naturalist, tracker, and author. He was a colonel in the British Indian Army and hunted man-eating tigers and leopards in the Indian subcontinent.

Content
The book contains seven stories about Corbett's jungle encounters, including "Wild Life in the Village: An Appeal", "The Pipal Pani Tiger", and "The Chowgarh Tigers".
Publication
The book was privately published in 1935, with only 100 copies distributed to friends. Corbett later used the stories as the basis for his 1944 book Man-Eaters of Kumaon.

Corbett also wrote other books about his hunts and experiences, including: The Man-eating Leopard of Rudraprayag (1948), My India (1952), Jungle Lore (1953), The Temple Tiger and More Man-Eaters of Kumaon (1954), and Tree Tops (1955).

Many years ago I picked up a first edition of Maneaters of Kumaon, its a fine read. what an amazing person.
Another great read is a book I recently obtained via Booktopia, its called. Hero of Kumaon, the life of Jim Corbett, by Duff Hart-David. I'm halfway thru it. it has quite a few quotes from Jim Corbetts Maneaters of Kumaon but the author also provides some great insights into Corbetts life. Insights that you just don't get from Corbetts own writing. At about $35 Aust, it's an absolute must.
