Steyr Model 1895 in 8x60R. Nice engraving and the set triggers work well. Have to get some ammo and dies and I'll take it out and shoot it.

Lancaster the auction sold mine as an 8x50r but it's stamped on the side of the barrel 8x60mm

I'm going to cast it today when I have time. This morning is full of appointments. I hope it isn't 8x60r, I have ammo for the 8x56r.

Chamber cast says 8x50R. The maker wasn't mentioned in the auction. When I examined the rifle I found this.

Ogris is a well known gunmaker family from Ferlach in austria working there over generations.

for the 8x50R you probably only have 200 grains 8 mm S bullets available now. best are long cylindrical bullets like the Sellier & Bellot softpoint, boat tail bullets are hopeless. I have load 8x50R by using a 9,3x53R Finnisch die for the base and a 8x50R Lebel die for the mouth +shoulder and bullet seating.

I have Austrian Alexander Henry chambered for the 8x50r . I bought a set of CH dies and make brass from 8x56r, which is available.
