Manton 450/400 3 1/4 NE
      #384288 - 19/04/24 11:25 AM

Hello all. It is my first post on the forum and happy to be a part of it.
Here are some pics of my old Manton double, chambered in 450/400 3 1/4 NE. The rifle is a plain working grade piece and weighs a little over 12lbs. The bores are in very good condition, and the rifle shoots well using Woodleigh 400gn (.408) RNSN projectiles. I enjoy the old hammer doubles, and pleased to have this one in my collection.
Chris

Chris,
Welcome to teh Forum. You have a very nice rifle. When you get a chance, post some targets and loads that you have shot. If you have taken game with your Manton, show what yu got.

Thanks - I certainly will post pics when I get a chance. My current load is 75gn AR2209 with the Woodleigh 400gn RNSN bullet. Bullet dia is .408". This particular load is straight out of the Woodleigh manual.
Chris

Thanks. I purchased the rifle from a gentleman in Melbourne who in turn, picked it up from a local auction. That is as much as I know about its history, but it was possibly one of the many doubles which made their way to Australia from India years ago. Exact date of the rifle is not known, but going by its London Proof House marks it would be early 1900's (from 1904).
The current load I am using is 75gn AR2209 with a Woodleigh 400gn RNSN bullet. Bullet dia is .408".
