seller is obviously not knowledgeable, thinks its a 7,62x51 Nato aka 308 Win with rim

for break action rifles.
7,62x51 R was the teutonic designation for the 30-30 Win.

Wasn't the 'rimmed' version of the .308 the .307Win?

yes, of course, but I think this 7,62x51R name for the 30-30 was used pre war so its decades older then the 307 Win. the seller don't know this.

Seems to me, a metric designation for the .30/30 should be 7,62x52R(same as the metric designation of the .22HP) as the case is 51.8mm long.

7,62x51R was the German metric name of the 30-30 Winchester indeed. See the 1934 DWM handbook "Patrone & Schuss":
