Howdy team
I hoped the photos work.
I own this Parker Hale with a Commercial 98 Mauser in .270.
Im trying to find out how/where I identify on the receiver or bolt where (and maybe when) this action was made

Cheers

Bidy
I have a few Parker Hales, they are good solid working rifles, nothing really flash but very dependable, available here in Oz from the late 50's? to the 90's? from memory.
I have a catalogue that I can copy if you want - not sure of its date, it may take some digging but I'll find it if you want me too!
Don't ask me to post any pictures, sorry still not PC literate!

I think you have a model 1200 from what I can see with its skip checkering.
The Model 1000 was a rather plain Jane, the 1100 was a lightweight sporter I have one in 7x57 & the 1200 was a deluxe version, mine has been rebarrelled to .308 Norma Magnum

From here it states:-
In November 2000, John Rothery (Wholesale) Co. Ltd purchased the brand name Parker-Hale and continue to manufacture many of the gun care items and accessories. Production of the rifles themselves unfortunately ceased. All enquiries relating to any Parker-Hale firearm should be directed to Norman Clark Gunsmiths at www.normanclark.com.

Best to give the gunsmith a email - hopefully they can help you.

Stole this from Harry Knutz on Shooters Forum:

Quote:

Most likely a Santa Barbara action, Pull the rifle out of the stock, It should say made in Spain on the left rear of the action in small letters just above where the trigger sits. It should have a "Z" prefix ahead of the serial number. Parker Hale used surplus German Mausers when they first started doing Sporter Mausers, Then they switched to Santa Barbara Mauser Actions.

That is correct.
It is a Santa Barbara action.
Pull it out of the stock and you will find further markings to verify.
