pwm,

Could you expand.

I must admit I am not sure on the shape of the stock for a DR.

pwm
well spoken, but I am afraid not everybody understands what you mean.
Interesting enough - it seems to be that they don't have the rubber between the barrels on this model and have no screw adjustments - are they starting to learn ?

It will be interesting to compare the Blazer to the Beretta Gold Sable
when I get my hands on one.

Although unlikely to be made in the same place,
they look very similar - apart from the stock.

The Beretta's shoot really well of all of the ones
I have seen.

Allways remember an oldschool gunmaker from Suhl. he dont make many words about Blaser guns, all he was saying was:WHEN YOU LOOK INSIDE IT LOOKS NOT GOOD.
I try to learn from more experience people when ever I can.

there must be a reason that so many people hate Blaser guns and the bad taste Blaser show again and again is more than enough for me.

It looks like it still has the manual cocking feature. Too bad. The S-2 looks nice. This is very ugly.

I'd rather have a dose of the clap than a Blaser. At least you can get rid of the clap.

I have no personal experience with these rifles, and no axe to grind, but just this season I heard first-hand of two clients with Blah-zer doubles experiencing accidental discharges when releasing the safety in the field. Both were American safari clients, hunting buffalo in Australia. Very unnerving for the guide, who was in front for one of the discharges!

Anyone else heard of this happening?

I would be willing to bet, they had their fingers on the triggers while trying to put the gun on safe.
That whole thing trying to push the decocker forward puts rearward pressure on the fingers in the trigger guard.

Marrakai,

As much as it is disconcerting, that is heresay - a bit like the
Merkel myth !!!

Guns do not go off by themselves unless someone has done
something to them OR they have the finger on the trigger.

I was just about to post a question asking about the Blaser side by side doubles. What are the side by side doubles like? A freind is looking into getting a working double in something like 9.3x74 as has looked at the Merkel ,Kreighoff and Blaser. He said the Merkel was very plain ,but liked the look of the Blaser. Can anyone give me feedback on the Blaser SxS doubles. Are they better value for money than the Merkels or Krieghoff

Which means that they were poorly trained IMO. Fingers shouldn't be inside the trigger guard unless you're about to shoot, but rather along the outside of the trigger guard. Hopefully they learned from their near fatal mistake.

EricD
If they pulled the triggers, I totally agree with your statement
- Which means that they were poorly trained IMO."

In general shooters today have little undertanding of safety
and the little vagaries that you learn or were shown.

cr500

He said the Merkel was very plain
- He was probably looking at the model
which doesn't have any engraving.

Value for money - in DR's you get what you pay
for and any of the 3 are OK.

Suggest your friend looks at fit, feel and balance
as opposed to just price otherwise you end up
with a gun you don't like.

Also, in general modern doubles do not
appreciate.

NOT heresay at all my friend, actually happened. TWICE!

Sure the numptys could have had their fingers on the trigger, as I said my mate had his back turned for one of them, and may not have noticed on the other occasion. He wasn't making any point by the way, just describing a few of his 'adventures' this season.

A number of different rifles have been shown to be capable of dropping the sear while on safe, so that the rifle discharges when the safety is released. Weatherbys are a case in point. I was merely curious as to whether this could be the case with the Blah-zer.

Any first-hand experience, rather than your 'heresay', 500nitro?

Marrakai,

OK, When they get here I'll go and try it as discussed.
I'm not sure when they are arriving but will ask the distributor
and test one.

The other thing we don't know is if the owners have had any
modifications done to the trigger pull weight.

In regards to

them, and may not have noticed on the other occasion. He wasn't making any point by the way, just describing a

Therefore it is "heresay" in terms of accidental discharges due to the sear dropping when the
safety catch is removed but not heresay that it happened.
