I picked up an Austen and Halleck .54 caliber Hawken flintlock at an estate sale. It was so pretty that at first glance I thought it was a custom made rifle. It was made in Missouri.

I picked up a Lee .530 round ball load, now I am patiently waiting for Daryl to give me some loading hints (hint hint)

Tarawa, I've used 54's for.....35+ years, maybe more. My loads for a half dozen rifles has always been 60 grs. of Ffg, .020 patch and .530 RB for matches and just plinking. Hunting load was either 80 or 100 grs. of Ffg and the same patch/ball combination.
