Clay Target Double Rifle Challenge
      #377328 - 16/06/23 09:33 PM

A fun test of your double rifles and your shooting ability.

At what range can you hit a standard clay target disk?

Set them up at say 50, 70, 100 yards. Can you consistently fit them at those ranges? Even 25 yards? Preferably with both barrels.

Small steel stands can be purchased to hold a clay target. The orange clays make good targets. I've got four clays permanently set up about seventy yards away (that's where I've got an earth bank as a backstop) from my backyard for ad hoc rimfire practice. Plus a steel zombie head on a spring. For practice for the upcoming zombie apocalypse.

Shooting clays as targets is both excellent practice and a good test.

I think hitting one with my .450 NE might be difficult. I'd hope 25 and 50 yards are possible.

It should, I should be able to hit a buffalo chest target, say nine or twelve inch circle at a hundred yards, off sticks and off hand. Maybe 150 yards. As with all things practice is what is needed if the rifle is capable.

With my scoped 9.3x74R it should be easy in a clay target if I shoot well.

If I ever get my .30-06 Tikka/Valmet barrels shooting, and if scoped, that should be easy I think.

In fact shooting normal rifles at a clay target from field positions is somewhat difficult. But shouldn't be. It should be easy to hit a clay target at a hundred yards with some sort of field rest. Therefore my practice with my RFs.

Have a go with your double rifle, singles, big bore doubles. Any hunting rifle.
