Double of the Day - Westley Richards 10 Bore Black Powder Express Rifle



WESTLEY RICHARDS
170 New Bond St.
LONDON

A 10 bore, 5 Dram load Black Powder DB hammered top lever < Bar-In-Wood .> Express rifle, percussion styled hammers and fences, opening Westley Richards top lever early style C bolting extension lock up. Safety bolts for locking hammers.. Barrels 28 inch, with excellent clean shiny and well defined rifling. Flat file cut rib with 4 lay down sight leaves graduated from 50 to 200 yards., Silver bead foresight and sling eye. A new authentic style pistol grip stock with cheek rest, steel grip cap, sling eye, Silver oval, new forend, Anson & Deeley forend latch. Good coverage of Westley Richards fine scroll, and an Indian lion depicted on bow of trigger guard L.O.P 14 3/4 ins. to Silvers anti recoil pad. Weight 11 1/4lbs.

If I ever get into that foul, grungy, stinking stuff, that would be the way to go. That's a right nice rifle.

NitroX ,do you know if that rifle is for sale? That is a VERY early breech loading double rifle!

How about US$2500 for a 12 bore double rifle in 90-95% condition?



It should be perfect for states like Ohio which require use of a shotgun (with slugs) for deer hunting as no game warden could argue that a 12 bore (12 gauge) is not a shotgun. Yet it has all of the attributes of a fine rifle.

If looked at that one before. If I was where I could hold it in my hands I think I would have to bring it home. I will get a BP double with ears one of these days.
