After over 3 years of searching, I finally added a 500 Jeffery to my Safari Rifle family.

This is an early AHR Custom Safari rifle built on a 550 CZ Safari Classic action.

What a wonderful rifle by Wayne of AHR, built in 2008.

550 CZ Safari Classic Action, Upgraded to Vertical Feed w/ 1 up 2 down . . Absolute Flawless Feeding
25" Heavy McGowen Barrel, w/ recessed cap on threaded muzzle for muzzle brake - Barrel Band Sling Swivel
10 lbs - 8 oz - 13-3/4" LOP (perfect balance)
Island Rear Sight, 1-Standing 1-Folding - Red Optic Front Sight w/ Window Hood
Fancy English Walnut Stock, 4-Panel Checkering w/ Rosewood Forend Cap & Rosewood Grip Cap

Well done. A VERY nice rifle buckstix. My bro and I have/had McGowan .50 cal barrels. They really shoot well.

Buck,
Very cool, at that date is the rifle likely a “pre Wayne” rifle from when Ed Plummer had AHR? Can't remember when Wayne told me he took over the business?
I have an Ed Plummer era .500 AHR which is basically an “updated” .500 Jeffery (a little longer neck and not so severely rebated rim).
Stock on mine is not nearly as fancy as your your new rifle.

Hello 3DogMike,
Thanks for the reply.

Wayne told me the rifle was built in 2008 with a synthetic stock, and upgraded to wood in 2011.

Awesome! If 375 H&H is the Queen of DGR cartridges, 500 Jeffery is the King! My CZ 550 in 500 Jeffery .

Something for you to consider from AHR
I have one of these QD Red dot mounts & they really are great, mine is on a .404 & it's never had any issues.
