.303 Farquharson
      #375402 - 22/03/23 08:37 PM

Hi All,

Would anybody out there have a .303 Farquharson Rifle that they could give me some of the action sizes from. I don't need detailed drawings, just a few of the main sizes. A PD action would be great but anything would be considered.

Many thanks

Mark

Mark, you know build photos are required ... Joking of course, but please we'd love to see your work as it progresses and especially the finished product.

I was thinking of you two days ago. Do you still own the Jeffery brand name? Don you know who owns or has access to old registers, books? I'd love to find out any information on my WJ Jeffery boxlock. .450 No2 NE. Especially its making date and original owner.

Thanks.

Hope your project goes well.

Thanks for the replies. rglenz,I will DM you regarding some sizes. That would be much appreciated. For photo's of the finished Farquharsons please have a look at the Rigby website.
John,I never owned W.J.Jeffery.I only built some rifles for them. They are currently owned by Dan Friedkin. After Tom Friedkin died it passed over to his son.As far as I'm aware the current manager is Richard Newgass who can be reached on richardnewgass@wjjeffery.com.I doubt that he will be wanting to deal with a load of requests for dating Rifles though as he i'm sure he will be busy with his day job.

John,
The last time I had a Jeffery daybooks search done was now about 3 years ago.
At that time the existing records (only the old daybooks exist) were located in the Friedkin private collection near Houston, Texas.
The requests for research were done thru an executive assistant at “The Friedkin Group” and were done only about twice annually.

I have no idea if the records search process is still the same; last I heard in 2022 there was some talk of the Jeffery records being transferred or sold to an entity that would offer more availability for records research?
It may still be possible to get updated info by contacting the Friedkin Group, Houston, Texas and asking for assistance.

I have a Gibbs small action .303 on the bench, if you let me know what dimensions you need I can forward them to you. It is quite a bit smaller than any PD action I have ever seen. I just sold another small frame Gibbs .303, that rifle was 6lbs even, tiny really.

Hi Steve,
That would be great. I'll send you an email with the dimensions I need.
Many thanks
Mark
