Johann Fanzoj, Roots of Africa rifle
      #373866 - 06/02/23 03:05 AM

ROOTS OF AFRICA
It is always again an experience for us, a deep exhale, when such a large project is completed.
THE ELEPHANT. A BigGame .416 bolt action rifle, themed to the largest mammal on earth, with photorealistic, deep relief engraving of the animal´s skin texture covering all metal parts. Archaic symbols of ancient hunters inlaid in gold remind of the dawning of mankind.

The level of quality here is no coincidence but the result of a long-year trustful collaboration between worldbest craftsmen and one of the greatest metal artists of our time, Ritchi Maier, whose style and technique is worldwide unique.

ROOTS OF AFRICA
Once again a big project is completed, a tribute to the largest mammal on earth, preserving human skill and artistic talent for generations to come.

Fabulously handengraved by Ritchi Maier, master of (nearly) photorealistic animal depictions and skin textures. An unmistakably unique style. Simply stunning.

ROOTS OF AFRICA
Once again a big project is completed, built to a 416Rigby bolt action, themed to the largest mammal on earth, with deep-carved elephant skin engraving in finest detail covering all action parts. Created in fabulous teamwork with metalartist Ritchi Maier/ Trompeter&Ritchi.

We had introduced the idea of extensive theme projects to the luxury sporting arms industry over 20yrs ago with our first African Epos‘ and ‚crocodile‘ rifles - milestones in our company's history.

Edited to add: the stories videos in farcebook usually only last a day or two. Stupid feature.

While an absolutely marvelous technical job, I can see no place for it on a rifle.
Each to his own, I guess.

It's a work of art. And described as such.

The elephant hide pattern engraving matches the hide perfectly.

You have to admire the workmanship - it really is something else!
Artistry certainly springs to mind, just not this little black duck's cup of tea!

to be true, I see the pics first and my first thought was how they wrap elephant skin around the rifle.
yes, it looks very realistic.

I'd definitely not want it on my gun. But I never have to worry either. It is outside my price range forever.

I do like to see some of these innovative artistic creations however.

Just as long as I never win lotto. Then I'll get a .577 or .600 Conan the Barbarian engraved rifle!

THE ORIGINAL. Over twenty years ago, in 2000, the Johann Fanzoj company presented the first ‚Crocodile rifle’, which then evolved into a close cooperation with engraver Ritchi Meier, master of expressive animal depictions and animals’ skin structures.
Together we have engaged into the creation of a number of extensive theme projects along the way - unique, unmatched demonstrations of human skill and artistic talent, that preserve values for generations to come.

This scrimshaw is a detail on the latest project ‚Roots of Africa’.

This is the master class.
