Front Sight Mannlicher Schoenhauer 1903 Take Down

The front sight of my 1903 Take Down is very difficult for my almost 80 year old eyes to see.
I would like to find a more visible replacement that would fit the dovetail without altering the dovetail.
Any thoughts?

I bought a brass Partridge sight from Skinner to use on my 1905 MS. I needed a taller sight for my bolt mounted aperture. The brass sight is much easier to file and fit the Mannlicher front sight dovetail. The brass can be darkened to remove glare.

I like a polished steel or brass, 45 degree slant on the top 1/8" of the front sight if a blade. This shines like a round bead in the bush, but with a swipe of a dry erase Felt Pen, it is dull black.
Permanent black felt pens put on a shiny black surface, but the dry erase versions, are flat black- perfect. A swipe with a thumb and back to shiny.

I had some brass sights for muzzleloaders I used for my 1908. Easy to fit and tall enough to work down for proper sighting.

I think that you will find that the brass sight will be your best option. I've worked with Skinner steel and brass sights before. The brass is much easier to work with.
