Yes to both of the brass question. Both are rifled in the last two inches of each barrel. Decagon flat rifling.

Cool. I see you moved your hand down the forend for the second shot. Was there some leakage from the pin? I think there might be, if the pin just runs through a hole in the case.

I haven't ever felt gas on my hands or face, but I run the pin hole pretty tight, and I size the pins to occupy the pin cuts at the breech

Still there's signs of leaks, but nothing like a blown primer or a flint touch hole

No leakage. I moved my hand down on the first shot in case the barrel let go, there was no gas leakage.

That's a great video, not just anyone can get a pinfire shooting again.
Be curious to hear results of you ever shoot over a chronograph.

Yes indeed, good stuff. I thought there might be some movement of gasses, bouncing back from the hammer's nose.

This would surely be some time prior to Fosberry's patent for the Paradox?? 1885?
1886 was the first H&H Paradox and the patent would have lasted 7? years and renewed once, so 14 years brings us to arounds 1900, surely this rifle is before then?
Most interesting - anyone got any ideas?

Whatever, well done for making the ammunition and shooting a wonderful part of history

Tony

I'd like to see a chamber casting from this one including a couple inches if the forcing cone area

I wonder if this is a rifle that's been back bored clear out to the "chokes"

What is the bore diameter of the smooth section of the bores?
What's the "groove" diameter of the choke section?

Can we see the sights?

Slugged bore. From the end of the forcing cone to just before the rifling begins the slug was tight to tightish all the way. Slug measured .733". Front sight is a bead on a dovetail. Rear dovetail has a blank filler in it.

your crimp die is a beauty but I had made this for the reloading press. its allways better to work with a press.
looks like you don't safe the pins in the cartridge. never had problems with pins falling out?
I allways give some glue ( simple stuff - not expoxy or similar) on the pin that hold him in position. never had a problem when firing, the glue just crack when the hammer is falling.

pins are tight. If they work loose over time I was going to dab a bit of glue on them.

Well done Casper!
Great to see such a marvellous old lady sing again & she did it it style too!
I recognised the crimper you have - great little gadget you have there!
Hopefully she'll bring home some venison or bacon one day for you.
All the best for 2023
