AH Fox .22 RF double rifle
      #370546 - 21/10/22 10:32 PM

Quote:

Rock Island Auctions : Built only on a special order basis, this tiny, factory engraved, Connecticut Shotgun made A. H. Fox .22 LR double rifle with a medley of mythological designs uses a special frame smaller than that of the already diminutive .410 bore frames. Coming this December.

I'm interested to see how the market is for the Connecticut Shotgun product

I've seen one of these really neat little rifles
They're definitely cool

We shall see what the hammer says

John,
Thanks for posting. That should be a cool DR and fun for rabbits or nutria. looking forward to seeing pictures.

Tinker,
I also wonder how firearms by Connecticut Shotgun hold their value. From what I undeerstand, they are well mde and of course mass produced so expect they hold their value well. I have not seen their gyns for sale on Gun Broker. Perhaps someone that follows the used gun market better than I can tell.

You can see the double rifle in the following webpage: https://us13.campaign-archive.com/?e=6ecd86a49c&u=ade8396c719b3abbeacf57a7e&id=7a07b605be

I tried cutting and pasting the picture but apparently don't have that technical skill.

What is the engraving and carvings? Sea monsters? Asian dragons? A female face with wings? Maybe from some original artwork.

Using the .22 RF cartridges for scale it is a nice sleek small double based on a .410 action.

John, if I recall these are made on an action specific to the caliber - smaller than their 410 action

The engraving scenes are Nuevo Gothic/Grotesque scenes
I wonder who the Engraver is

The art on the rifle will surely boost the value

By that I meant copied from some other original artwork? Some some carving, paintings somewhere. Perhaps Chinese or Japanese.

I like this little .22 RF double rifle. Not really necessary for anything, but would be great fun, particularly for newcomers to double rifles.

Base price for this rifle is $25k USD

Those double triggers are an option, and the base price reflects a bare action in the white without finish or engraving

Hammer price could be anything

Yes, it would. I think maybe .22 WRM would be good.
I prefer my Hornets to be like the CZ 527 or the Anschutz, capable of using Lil'Gun and 40gr. bullets at 3,300fps.

Galazan's /AH Fox first made the little .22 DR back around 2005.
It started as a personal project of one of the shop gunsmiths Lucas Geiger (sp?) who is from Austria and gunsmith trained there.
I believe he has since left the employment of Galazans.

Lucas's first gun was even smaller but he had some issues with the springs being so small that ejection ( and perhaps misfire ) problems resulted.
So he up-sized it just a small amt to take care of that and the result is what you see as far as frame size.

The gun was not intended to be a product line gun, just a something he decided to make on his own and on his own time.
His knowledge, skill and training more than allowed for it. He had showed me a Kipplauf he had built as part of his apprenticeship. An absolutely beautiful rifle.

The little .22rf DR was such a hit, Galazan's decided, with Lucas's permission to make the gun on spec order as a part of the AH Fox/Galazan offerings

A handful were usually completed on 'speculation' each yr for the LV Gun SHow and they sold quickly each yr.

They also added a similar size Winchester 21 DR in .22rf caliber to the line.
Both remained popular toys for those that could afford what they wanted.

The guns are made in house in NewBritain,Ct. CNC and the most modern methods of mfg are used.

Early production AH Fox shotguns were 8620 steel, investment cast, finished machined and then hand fitted.
This was starting in the early 90's when the company was first started.
Sometime later they dropped the investment casting & switched over to CNC machined frames and parts from billets. Still using 8620 steel alloy.
The small DR's have all been machined out using CNC. None were investment cast parts.

It's certainly an interesting novelty. I have seen several of the CSMC Fox .22LR doubles and would like to have one in my collection.

Looking at the photos on the auction listing, I must say that the schnable forend on this rifle hurts my eyes.

Not a novelty. A serious gun for the serious hunter. BOSS are building a hornet sxs with extra 410 barrels. A gun which can be used every day on every land mass on the world.

By far the most work done here is with a .22

A Hornet would be great, but on my hill more problems are solved with rimfire than everything else put together
