Leaving for Zim on the 15th of September. Won't actually arrive until the 17th, but am focusing on the 15th. This is my first trip to Africa and will be hunting with HHK for Sable and plainsgame at Lemco.
My turn to torture Mike as he did us all those months ago. He has to be going through post-safari depression now, so maybe I can make a little more miserable.
Was at the MD's last week getting my last shots and prescriptions when he mentioned he just got back from an Elephant hunt with Johan Calitz in Botswana. He had a great time and took a 65 pounder.

Wishing you all the best on your Safari. There's nothing quite like the first one. Have a great time, and don't forget to keep a daily diary, and take lots of photos. Looking for a full report when you return.
I'm almost over my PSD, but my wife finds it a bit odd, that when I go to the grocery store for her, I have a pocket full of .375s mixed in with the change.

Thanks, Mike.
I have to admit, I'm a bit nervous about my conduct and responsibilities while there. After reading what happened on someone elses' hunt a few weeks ago, I just hope I don't screw up because of ignorance. That would ruin it for me.
But... I'm excited as can be to have this opportunity. These will probably be the 9 longest days of the year.

Have a good trip and like Mike says, take a lot of pics.

You'll do just fine. Be honest with your P.H. regarding you abilities, as well as short comings. Trust his judgement and experience. Do unto others, etc., etc. That other person you're referring to, screwed up his own hunt, and his companions simply because he was a jerk (IMO) and wouldn't listen to anyone. From what I know of you, you're going to do well, and have a great time. Don't worrry about a thing. Just save a few critters for the rest of us.

Just finished up getting the rest of the shots today. This better be good, because I really hate getting shots.
I'm wound up tighter than a banjo string right now. I've been over and over posts here and at AR. My list has been checked at least a couple dozen times. The waiting is all that is left...

Missed your post until now. You are probably off already, but good luck and hope you bag a nice sable.
There is no comparison between you and the other fellow you refer to, so I have no doubt you will have a wonderful time, and soon be planning to take that .500 to Africa instead.
Good Hunting.
