Info request concerning 303/375 cartridge

Please note this is not about the 375/303 WR cartridge but rather a 303 Brit case expanded to the 375 bullet.

I have looked for info on the web with no real luck. (Other then people getting confused and thinking it is about the WR cartridge.)

Any info about the 375/303 would be welcome. Have you or do you own a cartridge chambered for it? Do you possible know of any web links discussing it?

I'm assuming that you are not talking about the .375 X 2.5 inch H&H flanged. (as used in the Lee Speed?

The standard .303 British was necked up to.375 in Australia back whenever. Probably in rebarrelled SMLEs. That is what I understand as a .375/303.

I don't know the WR, whether it is the same or not.

The .303- 375 was made years ago primarily for Northern territory Buffalo hunters. It was called the .375 Territorian. it was a solution to the Buff hunters need for more power. At the time .375x2.5 brass, dies etc were simply not available , hence the Solution was the Territorian. just resize .303 brass.
Nowadays it is easy to access dies, cases and have a barrel reamed in .375 x 2.5 and loading data is also available.
I built one on a No 3 a few years ago using a TSI barrel. a local gunsmith had a reamer and hey presto, . I still have the Singe stack magazine that was very reliable. of course I regret selling it so another is in the wind.

A friend of mine has built a couple of interesting rifles on no 4's. he uses 8x56R Steyr cases, .373H&H slightly modified dies and uses the H&H reamer. Cases are readily available, its easy to chamber a barrel, and it puts out considerable more power than either .375X2.5 or the 'Territorian"
He's trying to convince me to go that way rather than another .375x2.5. A very convincing argument. Just a thought. Hendo.

Thank you ALL for all the information. This is all most helpful. It in itself is very enlightening, however it has also given me new possible leads into more Google searches.

The reason for the inquiry is that I am considering a project around a barrel blank I have. The barrel was made by Boots Obermeyer back in the 1980's and was never used. I bought it from the original owner and I am now considering using it. Either to mate it to a 98 Mauser or maybe one of the Lee variants, and there in lies the inquiry for info on the 303.

I ran across this pic of a BSA Lee-Speed and I believe it may be the same as the No. 1 Pattern in 375 caliber as shown on the catalog page I posted earlier. The image origin did not mention anything about calibers so can't be positive. However, looking at the mag box shape and stick out from the bottom it certainly isn't a 10 shot or a 5 shot mag. Won't be able to positively identify until I find out ore info on this in my google searching.
