Johann Springer Mauser 8mm
      #367708 - 12/07/22 12:50 PM

I've long been an admirer of the work of Johann Springer of Vienna.
The Mauser '98s that Springer made just don't seem to garner as much admiration as the other rifles the firm offered.
So, the opportunity to purchase this rifle came up and I thought it would be a good time to see just what the deal is with these rifles.
I hope to get it out to shoot soon. Seems like a very nice classic to me!

have a very austrian touch with the rear side on the short rail. good quality you would expect by an ex purveyor to the court.
you should contact them with the data, maybe there are informations available in the papers.

Certainly looks very nice, be interested to hear the range report.

Bolt handle reminiscent of the Daniel Fraser style.

Very nice and classic rifle, congratulations on your purchase Huvius; by the way what is the caliber?

Think it's 8X57. A closer inspection will verify that but I haven't taken it out of the wood or done a chamber cast yet.

NOT 6.5 Creedmoor!!

Not a hater.
Just think that it was entirely unnecessary and not deserving of such adulation.

Thank you Lancaster and Huvius for your replies.
Congratulations again on your purchase, Huvius; 8x57JS is the king of calibers in Europe on the same way than 30-06 is in the US!

I had one in 257 Roberts , they are a lot of gun for the money. 1/4 ribs are a bit chunky tho. most all have that bolt knob style with tang safety. I think ralf martini has one for sale ...Paul
