1910 Barrel length

Is there a standard or common barrel length for the 1910? Is there a rifle, carbine or take down length difference?
I have seen the information on the various old advertisements posted here that indicate longer barrels but unclear if there was a standard.

According to the 1914 Franz Sodia, Ferlach, and the 1929 Steyr factory catalogs, the standard M1910 barrels were 50 cm = 19.7” for the full-stocked carbines and 60 cm = 23.6” for half stocked rifles. The Sodia catalog mentions non-standard barrel lengths up to 75 cm = 29.5” barrels as available on special order. All the time you could order half-stocked carbines with 50 cm barrels too, if you did not like the extra wood to the muzzle of the full stock.

My 1910 rifle has an approximately 56 cm/22 inch barrel.

My full length stocked 1910 is 48.5cm from receiver end to muzzle end.

Casper50, you forgot the 1.5 cm threaded part of the barrel that is screwed into the receiver! The correct way to measure barrel length: Close the empty,cocked rifle. insert a rod into the barrel until it touches the breechface. Mark the muzzle position and measure the length of rod to the mark.

In the states we don't usually measure the threaded portion of the barrel. Don't know why, just the way it's usually done.

Afaik measuring barrel length this way, from breech face to muzzle, is the accepted US practice to determine if a barrel is of the legal minimum 16" for a rifle.

kuduae is exactly right. Barrel length includes the part that is screwed into the barrel.

50 cm on mine sounds about right...

Mine is probably 1 1/2 inches longer then.

kuduae's example is precisely how the ATF measures a barrel.

Just measured mine to be sure: 50cm.

1939 Stoeger, note barrel lengths as well as 'special order' options:

My 1922 proofed M1910 Take Down Model has a 60 cm barrel.
