That is a beautiful rifle. The Uganda Kob aren't bad either.

Indeed, a very beautiful rifle and couple nice bucks (rams?).

I think my Swedish Mauser M96 in 6.5x55 would be nice made like that. Currently just a cheap synthetic stock, stepped barrel, two stage trigger.

Have you seen the Swedish Varberger rifles? I have one of those in 6.5x55. It has a 60 degree bolt lift and shoots quite well with both 120gr. and 160's.
A little bit heavy though, as the stock carries more wood than necessary.

Would you choose a full wood style for a 7x57 or the more normal forend?

That’s a nice rifle but too much wood left on it as seen on the flats surrounding the trigger guard. Kind of negates the concept of a mannlicher stock.

Well it is a Mauser.

Looks fine to me on the photo above.

A sleek Mauser needn't feel fat in the hand where you carry it. Not comparing it to a M-S stock profile. Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful rifle but just because it is a WR doesn't mean it couldn't shed a little girth. All that extra wood reminds me of a factory Ruger stock.

I will cast my lot with prairie ghost on this one. I do not like the flat wood around the floorplate and trigger guard one bit.

So, if I had the wherewithal and time to commission a rifle such as this, I would make sure the stock would be shaped to my liking. I feel sure the owner of this rifle likes it as it is.

A Mauser Type M in .30-06 is a perfect rifle.

No surplus wood on that one.

And here's a .30-06 stutzen I had built on an FN Mauser action back in the early '80s.

Here is my gunsmith's treatment of the bottom:
