Won the above rifle at an auction yesterday. Either it was an upgraded wood order or just got lucky from the factory. It's got a nice piece of walnut on it.

With a turn of the screw on the end of the tubular magazine it can be either a semi-auto or a pump.

Wow that really is interesting Casper!
I'd like to know how that was achieved, did the fore grip move all the time regardless of operation?
Would make a handy woods rifle for you guys over the other side of the pond

I haven't got it yet but as I understand it in semi the forearm does not need to move.

Dump magazine, in semi you load the first round with the pump action and fire until empty.

Nice looking rifle. My understanding is these (and the pump action Model M) were made in the same calibers as the Remington Models 8 and 14 - .25 Remington, .30 Remington, .32 Remington and .35 Remington.

One of these in .25 Remington would be sweet.

I got interested in the Remington 14 and 14 1/2 about 2 years ago and have picked up a couple. The carbines are very interesting. I’d like to have a Standard Arms Model M.

Does anyone here own a model G with a tang sight? Mine is set up for one but it's missing and I'd like to replace it. Can't find out which model of sight fits it. Help appreciated.

Casper

My old Lyman catalog shows the 1A tang rear sight (2A with disc) for the Remington 8 auto loader. There is a cross reference chart in the back of the catalog but it does not list Standard Arms. I think the 1A might be a good bet. These Lyman sights are precision works of art.

I've been told that the Marbles is a 'T1' for a Standard Arms rifle

Lyman is a 'DE'

Very nice and unusual gun. I presume turning the screw on the end of the gas take off (end of tube) shuts off the gas and prevents the semi auto function. I watched the video and it appears it is not a tube magazine just a tube for the breach spring?
I used a Model 14 pump action in 32 Remington for several years shooting a lot of red deer and feral goats. Would love that Model G.

casper50,

Standards are very interesting rifles, and 35R is pobably the best caliber. Standard was well ahead of the times. I think Standard failed because they were underfunded and the rifles were fairly expensive. However, this was a gas operted self loader developed some 30 years before the M1.

The Standard G may have been panned because it was a self loader and America was just evoilving from lever actions to bolts.

The one I had ahad RCMP embossed in the brass forearm and the wood was a very high grade. Standard tried selling these to the RCMP and may have sold a few.

Stick the nose of a bullet into the hole just behindf the trigger and the rifle breaks down into two parts. When you open it, you will notice all of the intricate maching that went into manufacturing these rifles.

Enjoy your rifle.

There is a Model M, the pump counterpart to the G, available now on Gunbroker. It’s in 30 Rem with peep sight and appears to be in great shape with strong original case colors.

I believe that gun was refinsihed. I believe all Standard Arms were blued and not color case hardened (at least the Model G that I had and the 7 ot 8 others Standard Arms rifles that I have examined were blued)
