For corrosion/pitting on the bolt body, scrub it with something like 4 ought 0000 steel wool and Hoppe's #9 solvent.
I suspect you are talking about pitting from oxidation (rusting) and not corrosion, per se'.
If corrosion, from acid, neutralizing the acid first with baking soda and water would be a good first step, then due to do the scrub.

Photo hosting site IMGUR works for me. Relatively straight forward tho a bit quirky til you get used to it.

It's pitted but otherwise benign. Gentle wire brush to get it out and then oil it up.

Agree.
I've also used Oxalic acid to remove rust too. It is sold as Wood Bleach in hardware stores.
A little on a Q-tip applied to the pits only should neutralize the rust and leave it a brown - gray color. Then a brush and oil and that's it.

Deeper pitting can be filled by someone really good at micro welding while a talented restoration specialist can "restrike" (for lack of a better word) the corroded surfaces and weld filled pits.
Not cheap, but can yield a very good restoration result.

That's some serious pitting. Does the bolt match the rifle? What does the rifle look like? Pictures???
