CZ SP01 Competition...
      #361718 - 09/02/22 07:05 PM

I picked up one of these over the weekend. Had no intention to. Went into a local farm and ranch store for supplies.. stopped by the gun department looking for ammo.. Guy behind the counter who I visit with told me to check it out.. after handling it for a bit, decided to get it..Many on this site have proclaimed how nice these are.. I am about to find out..

In recent years, the SP-01 Shadow has taken the competition circuit by storm. In USPSA Production Division, CZ pistols are now used by twice as many top-level competitors than any other maker. Given that popularity, it was high time to up the ante.

Starting from scratch, CZUB engineers took the best features of the original Shadow and improved upon them. More than two years later, we’re seeing the fruits of their efforts. With a higher beavertail and undercut trigger guard, the shooter’s hand is able to be as close to the bore axis as possible. With a contoured slide, the majority of the reciprocating mass is also centered on the bore, equating to less muzzle flip. Increased weight at the dust cover/rail also helps keep the muzzle down.

The Shadow 2’s swappable mag release has an adjustable, extended button with three settings to allow shooters to set it in the spot most comfortable for them. Best of all, new trigger components give smooth DA and crisp, clean SA while drastically reducing trigger reset.

A hardy nitride coats the entire pistol, leaving it nearly impervious to corrosion, while the frame gets an additional layer of our black Polycoat finish. Thin blue aluminum grips have healthy checkering to match the fine front and backstrap checkering of the pistol itself. Sitting atop the slide are a set of target sights — fiber optic on front and a serrated, black HAJO rear (click adjustable for elevation, drift adjustable for windage).

I used one of them at my gun club and liked it. I actually shot better with the STI Trojan, a plainer handgun.

I thought about buying one.

Not sure if it was the CZ 75 Shadow SP01 or a CZ 85 Shadow ?

When I come to getting a 9 mm I will consider one.

https://www.czub.cz/en/firearms-and-products-product/cz-75-sp-01-shadow

Are they - CZ 75 - double Action?

I would like a SIG P226 I think it is. A double Action where the trigger was quite good on the two second hand handguns I tried. Also like I think the manual decocking, cocking lever.

Also the Walther Q5 with steel frame but it is a trigger safety type with those horrible two stage triggers.

The CZ 75 is a really good choice. I think your purchase is still a CZ 75?

It is a CZ 75-- metal frame.. has good weight to it.. really wanted to shoot it at my home made pistol range at the ranch last weekend.. but ended up having to move snow with the dozer for almost 8 hours over the weekend.. its a higher wind area..so... snow banks/drifts are always forming.. we are entering the calving season.. so need the roads open to drive in and out of the calving area.. plus the hay area had about a 5ft drift across the front... Have had 4 calves in the last 2 days.. 4 down, 296 to go..

I own several CZ's..rifles and a shotgun..but have never owned a pistol .. it has an incredible trigger on it.. feels as good as many of the custom triggers I have on other pistols.. nice sight picture..

I have a Sig 226 along with numerous other Sigs including the 365 CC and a higher end model 320.. they are nice.. and work well.. the thing I don't like as much about the 226 is the higher bore axis.. I prefer the lower for quicker recovery after the shot..

Recently acquired a Walther PDP.. also have not shot it .. now sitting under the CZ in my gun room at the ranch waiting its turn..

I can't use the CZ 75 anymore at the range as it's been shot to pieces being a club gun. No longer available.

The STI Trojan also was retired.

The Block and S&W are still there and still crap.

My scores with the Block were maybe 350 out of 500. The STI maybe 480 out of 500.

It's and extended mag.. but not by much..

Gun manufacturers have become quite ingenious when it comes to mag capacity in the last few years.. Look no further than the sub-compact Sig 365. holds 15 with the extended mag.. in a sub-compact no less..
