6.5x68 with 90 gr projectiles reportedly 3900 fps plus. Used for mountain chamois.
So would the .264 Win Mag.

Was thinking the .204 Ruger would hit that mark as well...

Ripp, Thanks for posting. I never heard of the .22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer which, compared to the 30/06, looks very wild. Well, PO certainly was an experimenter. He contributed quite a bit to the gun industry.

Like you, I had not heard of it ever either .. HAVE to love the name..

Of course, the .17 Remington was the second US Ctg. to break 4,000fps in factory ammo & did it using a 25gr. bullet. With a 20gr. and handloads, this .17 easily breaks 4,500fps. With a 15gr. Berger(no longer in production) it would break 5,000fps, as used by one fellow in the States on coyotes.

I suspect the 6.5x68 and .264 would break 4,000fps with 85gr. bullets if having 26" barrels.
