Wanted fallow deer skull
      #358216 - 17/11/21 12:58 PM

Is there any of you blokes down here in Tassie that would have a reasonably sized Fallow skull they don't want, I' m not after antlers just an old skull.
I need one to get an idea of size and shape so that I can carve one from wood.
I'm up in Launceston but don't mind a bit of a trip ( within reason ), send me a PM if you can help me out.....I'm also after a water buffalo one as well, but that's a bit more difficult....

Roger

I saw a picture of mic hauling one of the buffalo variety out of the bush, just a short while ago.

Unfortunately Daryl, we live at opposite ends of the country....

I will have a look at what fallow skulls I have. Have a few. I want it back though.

Have a medium sized water buffalo skull as well. I want that back as well.

Don't think it would be cheap to freight both ways?

You should becable to find a temporary or spare fallow buck skull in Tasmania. Any local taxidermists? Also try any deer farmers? Keen local deer hunters should have some unmounted skulls. If they have done skull mounts.

The fallow skulls shouldn't be a problem, but with the 'buff skull I may have to make do with photo's and some measurements. Below is the sort of thing I want to have a go at.

North, vs. (below) South - ahhh, just a short swim, then hop in the out back.

Excellent ideas. Even urbanites like that sort of trendy decorations now. Wood is friendlier and less fearsome than a bone skull.

The spare buffalo skull I have is the station one. I shot after jB's/larchers hunt. The bull that wanted to kill me.

Try Clayton/Claydog on here. And Pato. They may have a spare skull lying around. I can contact them for you if needed. Pato is on FB. And I have Clayton's phone number. I want to chat to him anyway.

A wooden buffalo skull mount would be spectacular. What do you use as horns? Real horns?

Cast deer antlers are easy for the fallow bucks.

Looking forward to it. I've got lots of thrown fallow antlers to mount as decorations.

An idea. Make some nice wooden skull caps to. Easy, quicker to carve and cheaper to buy.

I'd buy some.

Decorations, not trophies.

As soon as I have something good enough, I'll put it on here for opinions.
