Classy rig there Lancaster!
Nice timber for the stock, a no-nonsense hunter that you wouldn't cry tears if you scratched a bit here & there!
Very nice indeed & a good calibre to boot as well!

That Mauser by Dirk Ruhland is superb.

Too bad it cannot be imported to the U.S. Otherwise it might find a new home on this side of the pond.

Thanks for posting Lancaster. Some very nice bog bores in the auction houses.

I would assume Holts could facilitate export to the USA. I had two rifles in Germany exported through Holts to Australia, through the local Holts agent here. I assume as there are two Holts agents in Australia, that there would also be some in the USA. It isn't cheap though all up.

Hi Lancaster

I think it's because the rifle is built on a DWM action - military. Regular commercial Mauser actions are OK for import to the US, but not rifles built on a military action. That's my understanding at least. I've imported several commercial Mausers.

I’m not sure of the legislative or administrative history but it probably has its roots in the 1968 Gun Control Act.

I know that in importing original Mauser sporting rifles, the pear shaped bolt handle is your friend.

The law was passed to protect the gun manufacturers, who were being threatened by a flood of military surplus weapons being sold at incredibly low prices. As is often the case, the flood had already taken place, so the consequences were borne by the custom gun makers who used military actions like this one. However, I doubt that whoever processes ATF import permit applications would identify a rifle in this price range with being military surplus or would identify the manuracturer DWM as being exclusively military.

https://www.gebrauchtwaffen-spezialist.d...ild-Safari.html

in the description they don't say it original and old but between the lines it do

I do like it. E1850. With decent projectiles would kill big game reasonably well.

Only E690 for this one. Why so much cheaper?

I do much prefer the first though.

the FN mauser in 10,75x68 is very cheap and I would buy it if there was not a rifle for this caliber in the safe. don't know why but its a real bargain. would make a good rifle for northern territory to shoot water buffulo all day long.
the Rival mauser having the same post war FN action without thumphole but this was a gentlemans rifle and the finish may be better than the more common FN mauser working gun have.

Unusually long stock on the 10.75x68, never seen one like that, almost like they put a normal rifle action & barrel in a stutzen stock?
Apart from that, all look like they hardly been used! Would be amazing pieces to collect

its even longer if you know it is a 72 cm long barrel.

when seeing the rifle in the morning I thought there must be a mistake because the rifle was offered for 500 euro = 791 australian $ but yesterday in the evening it was allready sold so it seems this incredible price was the right one.

the dream of an original african mauser in 10,75x68
https://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=14593371#img
70 cm / 28 " long barrel, SN 27682

take the chance to compare the original african model (70 cm barrel )

with the french Rival mauser (72 cm barrel)

both in 10,75x68, it seems clear the rival was more or less a copy of this design

but, there is no dishonour in copy the best
thank you for your attention
