Few pics hunts
      #357333 - 11/10/21 04:16 PM

Heres few pics of last couple of trips.
Mitch 300 wm first boar coming into spring

2nd escaping from creek

3rd on buff carcasse

Followed a heavy trail of tracks from the carcasse to a mob bedded in the creek, 10 all up, 338-06 160 TTSX

2 for 1 shot

main reason for trip was to recover horns, my bull with the wonky horn wouldn't budge so carried the whole head out. 4.5km to go

interesting that no pigs on my bulls carcasse

Cleaned up well

Couple of a bit of a mud puddle 338-06

recovered raking shot to offside shoulder 160 TTSX

solid boar at a spring running shot

160 TTSX 338-06 50m down very quickly raking shot

Brendon 300wm 180 PPSN

damaged horn , maybe shot

boar was feeding on bank , fell in to water at the shot

quick recovery

next bunch dropped five quickly

Very hot and hard going but still a bit of water around

Nice lot of porkers there mate!
Glad you got the heads out though.
Well done indeed - especially the 2 for 1
Cheers

That TTSX showed a LOT more expansion (width) that we are used to seeing with the X bullets.

Ripper trip again Mick with some really nice animals. Great looking scenery especially with the creek in it.

Daryl, the TTSX 160 is light for calibre 160/338. Previous owners loads set up for sambar hunting. Pretty happy with results on game so far. Quick kills at close range and very happy with penetration on the cow buff.
Im going to stay with the 160's as it will be my go to rifle for sambar in the crappy stuff. If it doesn't work out ill go back to the 180GMX.
See how the rest of the season goes Cheers Mick

That head looks like it might have been very stinky to carry out. Nice sized heads though.

One thing your photos do not show is the heat! I can imagine a later Sept and early Oct hunt is very hot. Iooks cool with the streas but would not be away and out of the water.

Well done on all the piggies and buff.

I know your bullet choice is for sambar and the reason they are light for calibre. I reckon most would choose a 225 or 250 gr for buffalo. Even in a .338/06?

Any synopsis big game animal, any centre fire, here in BC.
The game branch puts trust in hunters to use appropriate calibres.
