Good stuff Mick.
Lee Speeds do add a bit of class to a hunt.

And in my own case, nostalgia: my first ever centrefire rifle, given to me by my Dad at age 12, was a Lee Speed.

You might want some better bullets in case of buffalo, though!

Well done, Mic, as is usual. That separated jacket and core was interesting. When I first saw this, I thought they were bonded, but then though - no, can't be.
Still, coming apart at the end of travel is not a bad thing,
especially when so well expanded. My buddy Keith had good luck with Hornady Interbond 150's in .308 Cal., fired at 2,750fps from his P14 .303 chambered on a .308 barrel.
The elk was just over 400yards and dropped at the shot, double lunged. The 2 deer he got with the same load were just over 100yards.

A good size boar that. I love shooting open sights - just classic stalking up to the animal. Lee Speed is a classy instrument for the job. Well done.

Well done Mick, excellent animals and great looking country. The Lee-Speed certainly looks the part in those pics, beautiful rifle. Did you have it re-barreled with a new barrel to the original profile or was it a good used barrel that was fitted.

Matt.

New barrel profiled the same as the old one without the rib. Cheers Mick

Yeah good job. I actually much prefer the Lee-Speeds without the rib. Looks great.

I like the hunt with the Lee Speed.

Amazing such an old cartridge can still kill modern game! Like it did a hundred plus years ago !!! And not a creedmoor!

Loved to see the old girl being used so well.

Thanks for posting.
