Looking for suggestions for Czech hunting

Well hunting in the Czech Republic anyway. I'm looking to go after red stag and wild boar, sometime between December 1 - 15 of this year. Any suggestions on guides or brokers to get in contact with would be appreciated. The only one I've been able to find online is CZ Hunts, aka Taxidermy and Travel of Jacksonville Beach, FL.

Although hunting there, from what I've heard, is supposed to be fairly good, the SCI hasn't had any hunt reports submitted for the Czech Republic. The only suggestion they could offer was a broker by the name of Jeff Niel. Any experiences with his work would be appreciated as well.

I met twice Jiri Kern in Africa when he was guiding citizens from the East Europe and Austria. He is a very nice and competent guy, and very tough. A former officer and absolutely not a commie.

I'm going back in the middle of Dec. Boar, Mouflon, Sika, Red Stag, Fallow Deer all avaliable. Drive hunts and Stand hunts. Pilson area.

Well finally set the dates. First couple of weeks in December. Now I need a ticket and a new rifle and a new scope and new hunting togs and new cigars and all kinds of neat stuff.

Micky,

Well said, when you go off hunting trip you really need to outfit yourself.

I did it myself, I finnaly got one of those neat wood and leather tripod seats that they use on driven hunts. Its great. Not that I can actually fit it in my suitcase with me next time I cross the Atlantic in November, but I can put on my breeks and use my imagination, when I sit for doves and later for whitetails.

You know I hadn't thought of that. I should pick one up over there and use it. It would be a real hit around the campfire Deer Hunting.

I wonder if my cousin will laugh at me when I tie it on the pack horse?

Tie it on a pack horse now that's an idea!

Here's a link to the maker, the tripod is in one left. They are really comfortable and easy to carry. I like them here since I spend a lot of my time on the sides of slopping mountains and the tripod "sits" better than a large folding chair when I wait all day for deer. I'm going to try it out on doves after work tomorrow.

Are these different heights or Ass sizes?

As for the pack horse I guess it would be easier than getting one of those Roosevelt and Drake Camp Chairs. I can't smoke my Cubans and sip my Crown while seated on a log.

It would get my moleskins dirty.

I need a scope mount for it. That would probably be cheaper than a new rifle though.

I'm still looking for a break action single in a '06 size caliber.

Why don't you come along? You can buy cheap Christmas presents for all the little bambinas.

Well, good news and bad news. The good news is when I passed this by the wife she said "What do you hunt there?" which is a lot better than "You're kidding, right?". The bad news is that the show that I'm currently working on will take me to mid December/Christmas. Thanks for the offer though; hoist a pilsner there for me.

As for a break open, when you get there go to the Brno factory (named after the city it resides in) and pick up one of their rifles. A nice souvenir.

I just measured the length of my little seat that I often use in the forest when hunting moose. The legs are 47 cm long. This is low enough for a short guy like me (175cm tall) to sit comfortably while resting my elbows on my knees when I shoot at longer distances.

Even for a tall person, the tripod legs lengths of 60, 70 and 80 cm sound unusually long. At least for trying to use ones knees as a rest when shooting. But maybe these French tripods are just for sitting and not shooting?

Erik,

I'm not an expert (since I just got one, and I've not used it in action yet...

), but my impression is that is like a tripod version of the British peg stands, where you are more sort of leaning on it, rather than deeply sitting on it. So it would be more for standing than sitting and bracing your rifle on your legs.
