Lancaster,

Thanks for posting this interesting action.

Does the hammer hold the block to prevent it from rotating open? I realize the block is massive and the 9mm RF is a low pressure cartridge but something needs o hold the block closed.

Rather nifty little piece of kit there!

I think the little lever on the RHS pulls the pin thru the block enough in a straight line to allow the block to then rotate away.
When is in battery the pin (I believe) goes deep enough into that recess/lug in the LHS side of the action & will hold the block closed, making it unable rotate due to the pins length binding itself in the recess until the lever pulls the pin out of the recess again - well that's my theory Darwin!
Great find Lancaster.

I see it the same way, the lever is the opener
but don't understand why the block is big it is, anyway have never seen something like this before

For some reason the Snider action springs to my mind, but instead of tilting this one is sliding the whole bolt/action.
One thing for sure, plenty of access for fat gloved hands to get those tiny cartridges into the chamber!
And thanks once again Lancaster on your never ending quest to educate us common folk on the wonderful world of firearms & there developments though the ages.
An ugly duckling, but still in my eyes a grand little piece indeed
Thanks mate!
