A few years ago I created a .44mag double rifle in the vision a customer had for hunting black bears and hogs behind dogs. In doing so, you typically find yourself walking long distances, and shots are VERY short. Sometimes so short the bears can leave a mark! This rifle took the .44mag concept and made it better for his needs. This one is in .480 Ruger, which is launching a 325gr HP/XTP at over 1450fps out of the 16 1/4” barrels. The rifle weighs 5lbs 12oz as pictured, and balances 1/4” behind the hinge. The selective ejectors make quick work of emptying the chambers. It is setup with a peep sight, but has provisions for a red dot. At 40yds it’ll put 4rnds at 3/4” if you do your part.

One very cool project Aaron! Like Marakai's 'fat lady', just her little kid sister! Give them bears & pigs a great thumping for sure.

Aaron, That is very cool, very impressive to have a double so well regulated. Does that light rifle have much recoil? That wuld also make a fine southern woods gun where shots are usually under 100 yds. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Recoil is pretty comparable to a stout 20ga game load.

Great, recoil is not stout. Very nice looking package.
Will that action handle a 45 Casull? I was thinking that a light double rifle like that might be good for someone hiking in Alaska.

I wouldn’t put a .454 casull on a shotgun frame, chamber pressure and case thrust is rather high. .45-70 would be a safer bet, and still deadly medicine.

Nice little rifle Aaron Little!
Sort of like some of those "howdah" "long arms" , shorter barrelled double rifles, we have seen a couple examples of those here on NE.
I like it. But while I understand why a piccatinny rail is on it, and probably per the custmers order, the rail is an eyesore.
Good to see a peep sight on it. Something rarely seen on a double rifle.
Now you can make me a modern howdah handgun! \ Thanks for posting your latest work.

That's a damn nice little rifle, I'm a fan of the little 44nag, but this is definitely a little bit better. 👍

480 is a great cartridge. Really neat little rifle there.
What action is that?

This one started life as an Ugartechea 28 bore BLE with bushed firing pins.

Good to see a peep sight on it. Something rarely seen on a double rifle.
Now you have seen another peep sighted DR. Also regulated by Aaron.

Extremely nice and desirable little double-rifle; exactly what is required for when trailing wounded game or hunting behind hounds. Sincere congratulations on your work. Louis
