Very good article about Kipplaufs 85LC

I haven't heard of Johann Fanzoj before, their work is amazing to say the least!
Anyone here on the forum use these, singles or otherwise?

I would suggest everyone to have a look at the doubles here - they look magnificent, their engraving really appealed to me as well, resinise of the light scroll work of yesteryear!

That's what I love about my K95, one shot, one kill.
It really makes you ensure your 100% confident in the shit before you take it.

They are an absolute joy to carry and travel with too, all my guns are break action now for those reasons. 👍

In a discussion some time ago I asked, "What does the double rifle man use in mountains?" And Mickey answered " A single shot."

The article claims a Kipplauf must be short. I disagree, subject to our German PhDs in German gun knowledge agreeing or disagreeing.

A Kipplauf may be shorter as it does not have an action so a standard barrel rifle is shorter overall. Or a longer barrel can be more easily accomodated.

I would love to have a European cartridge of "magnum" dimensions in a medium calibre with a 650 mm length barrel in a lighter weight Kipplauf for mountain hunting. A 7mm SEvH or a 6.5x68 or a 8x68S. Or all three! As I see Fanjog now also makes multi barrel Kipplaufs.

Anyone who has not heard of Johann Fanzoj, check out their website and have a reall good look around. Fantastic artwork. Maybe not to everyone's taste but gun art of the highest order.

I am not sure if I ever displayed it here, but I corresponded with Fanzoj about their Dracon or Dragon rifle. There used to be extensive images of it on their webpages. I see one page with a few images, hopefully somewhere the rest are as well. Not sure where the folder is of the iamges I colelcted at the time.

Checkout their lion rifle. Their grete migration rifle. Their deer hunter rifle. Absolute fantastic art.

I should put all of these up here on NE as well and on our fb pages for people to enjoy.

I did but alas only loaded up a link to a video and a page on their website, which is no longer in existence. The video still exists. I hope I have those images on file.

I do prefer my kipplauf to be short, my 20" 30/06 barrel is much handier then my 24" hornet barrel. I know it's only 4" but it makes a difference to me, I'm actually considering having it chopped.
But seeing as the 20" is a Stutzen and the 24" regular the weight is about the same and so is the balance.
It's more using it from a vehicle or pushing through thick country where that 4" makes a difference and the hornet isn't used for that sort of thing so the little extra velocity is possibly advantage enough to keep it unmolested.

But I can't look at the Fanzoj guns, they always leave me looking at my savings and trying to work out the logistics of importing one.

I think it was Tinker on another topic, but basically he was saying to at least have a lunge at something like a double (or something to that effect), otherwise you'll always be behind!

I have my double for anything cranky, not that there's anything like that around where I live.
But spent a few years up around Darwin and had some rather cranky encounters.
But around here it's pretty much deer and foxes, so a single round of 30/06 does me just fine. It would do me for pigs out west too but I'd rather have that 2nd shot for other pigs in the mob.
One round of the hornet will do me for foxes, bunnies and eating goats at a mates place I trap at.
I'm definitely thinking about a 9.3x74R barrel for my K95 also, I've grown pretty fond of that round.
