Has anyone heard of using BPI's .500 12 gauge collet sabot to shoot a .505 Gibbs bullet from a rifled shotgun barrel? It appears the collet is designed for a 325 grain pistol bullet but may have some room for a longer bullet from picture on site below. Sabot cups are near bottom of page above Foster slugs:
I don't see why it shouldn't work out. It's just not my cup-o-tea to play with shotguns and sabots when I've got access to rifles of bigger calibers than I own. Tell you what, go ahead and try 'em out and report back to us with the results. It's gotta be interesting to say the least.

OH, I have lots of boomers, but my nickle plated, REM. 870 Marine Mag.with rifled barrel, stays straped on my back when rafting AK. I kind of think of it as a 7 shot .727 caliber rifle. I'm just getting bored with the "lead slugs", and needed something to tinker with..besides the 730 grain Dixie Terminator. It only penetrates 42" of gel.
