Does anyone have a prewar Rigby Mauser rifle with factory engraving or pics of one? I would love to see some, if so.

Ron Spomer outdoors has a video on YouTube with a 1938 lightweight 416 that has tasteful engraving. I believe Rigby has this rifle in their collection, and used it for reference in designing their current fair. Joel Dorleac once posted pics of a Rigby 375 that is similarly engraved.

I have seen that video. That is a wonderful rifle. It has to be very rare to have one that was factory engraved. Especially considering how rare a prewar 416 Rigby is to start with. I will have to see if I can find some pictures of that Dorleac 350. I knew that had a beautiful 350 but I don't think I have seen the engraved oe.

Cool video, however his shooting off the bench, I dislike allowing the forend to bounce. I find at 100meters, in my .375/06IMP, which does not kick as much as this .416, the difference between hand-held & letting it bounce, is 3 1/2" in group location - vertical dispersion. This shows that allowing the gun to bounce, caused a 3 1/2" higher vertical impact. This difference would not be noticeable at 50yards, but could make a difference at longer ranges. That Rigby was a beautiful rifle.

I have a 416 bolt rifle built 1926. It is heavily factory engraved and has magnificent wood for the time. It is untouched original. Please forgive me I got rid of its case many years ago. Rigby in London have photos of gun. I am unable to post photos on this site.

That rifle sounds amazing. It must be a real treasured piece. I have been looking for a nice prewar 416 Rigby for some time to no avail. I would love to see pictures of the rifle if they are posted somewhere.

My 4 Rigby’s are 416, 350 bolts 275 double and 20 bore under lever.HUNTING with them brings me great pleasure. The 275 or 7 mill rigby magnum was brand new when I acquired it. It and the 416 were built in 1926. All guns are in good condition.

Just for info, my contribution with some bad pictures of original engraved RIGBY double rifles made before WW1. A .303 Velopex plains game and a .470NE big game, the two express rifles with Blissel third bolt, ejector and Krupp steel chopper lump barrels.
Regards to all.
