WTB - Barrels for Mauser M03
      #350576 - 19/02/21 11:22 AM

I am looking for extra barrels for my Mauser M03 Extreme in .458 Lott.

My preference is for a 22" .375 H&H barrel, with sights, and a 24" .300 Win Mag barrel, again with sights.

However, I will consider any barrels for the M03.

No. But they are expensive. The old importer has stuff all stock. Mauser doesn't really support the M03. And I don't see barrels much for sale. I assume they might be more common in Germany.

I still need the .222 magazine spring replaced or a new mag for the .222/.223 class mag.

I bought a multitude of barrels - .222, 6.5x65, 8x68S and .404 - so I didn't need to find them when Mauser one day stopped making them.

I would still like a .375 H&H Mag, 9.3x62 and 8.5x63 or something among those three. Plus the 6.5x68 Mauser stopped making years ago and would not even admit they ever made barrels in the 68mm case/

I would also like a spare 8x68S and .404 magazine. I think they are the same. Easy to carry a fully charged mag for competitions and hunting big game. Than recharge a magazine.

Maybe our German members know of a website where Mauser M03 stuff is for sale? Including second hand listings?

Hey John,

Are you going to do anything about that .300WM in the UK? If not, I am going to explore the option of buying the barrel and having it shipped out Downunder.

Also, are you interested in .338 Win Mag and .458 Lott barrels? There is a M03 package for sale, here in Oz, that has three barrels and I am thinking of buying it but would end up with one or two barrels that are excess to my requirements.

P.S. I still need to phone you about the clips for the 6.5x53R as per your suggestion on that post, will do that soon.

cheers,
Bob

No interest in the .300. Go for it. I posted it for you.

I should not be interested but could be interested in the .458 Lott and maybe a .338 until I see the prices.

I have forgotten the 6.5x53R and guess it was stripper clips? "Oldtimers disease" ... Yes still don't have them!

PS I knew I should have acquired a magnum bolt head in the past.

I think I have seen the advert for that M03 with a .458 Lott, .375 H&H and a .338 Win Mag barrels. Aout $15,000 for a M03, WOW! Nice wood and probably engraving is my guess.

A lot of second hand firearms seem so highly priced to me nowadays, I must be loosing touch with the market. Or the internet listings are unrealistic?

I see Magnum Sports, I think it was, was advertising three new Extreme models for sale. Assuming they actually have them in stock. .30-06, .300 Win Mag, .375 H&H Mag, and .458 Lott, I think were mentioned.

Whole rifles of course.

I am thinking of creating a dedicated Mauser M03 Trading Post here on NE. The world needs a good dedicated place to post of items for sale and wanted to purchase. I've asked on a farcebook group dedicated to the M03 for sites selling and buying m03 stuff. No answers yet.

So maybe a dedicated trading post forum for each of the following:
Mauser M03's;
Valmet/Tiika/Finnclassic combination rifles, shotguns, double rifles;
and God forbid
Blasers.

Sorry to take your thread off topic.

weeks ago I rang Magnum sports, about those M03's they have advertised, and was told that they were sold out - so I don't know why they are advertising them again.

Yes, the M03 outfit is being advertised on Usedguns.com.au and it is a very pretty rifle. The wood is grade 11 and the cost of that wood was, alone, EUR6,400 (which is nearly AUD10,000!).

Hey John,

In regards to that .300WM M03, in the UK: I have made contact with the seller and I am now in the process of finding out what I must do to import that barrel. So, it would appear, that I may have found one barrel - so thank you.

But the search continues!

Well done. Hope it works out with the barrel.

I was surprised the UK seller was selling the barrel separately. I would not be selling it separately UNTIL AFTER the base rifle sans barrel was sold. It might be hard to sell to a new buyer without a barrel. However I certainly bought a second M03 without the barrel etc.

And hope it goes well with finding the other barrels.

IMO it will only get harder to find any M03 accessories as time goes by, and increasingly tied to whole rifle sales only.

Unless a person like me, and you in the future has many barrels and bits, if a new buyer does not want it all, only then will the extra bits be sold separately. IMO.

I did inquire and was told that there were .270WSM and .300WSM barrels but you couldn't give me one of those calibres.

But there was no mention of .300 Weatherby!!!!
