Two different worlds..

..one injectionsmolded rifle of 2020 and a handcrafted rifle of the 1880s

Blaser K95 in 7x65R and a Cogswell & Harrison.500ex

I like to have the Blaser. Its handy, light and supposed to be very accurate(Haven`t shot it yet).
I don`t think I`ll ever take a boltgun again for generel hunting. I`ll take the Cogswell before a boltgun too.

Two different worlds on the one hand - as you mentioned it, but also two complementary ones on the other hand as modernity always digs its roots into tradition! And your comment about stalking with single-shot rifles is shared.

Yes, I agree.
There certainly is a definite charm to a single shot, open sighted rifle as a gun for stalking big game.

Very nice Cogswell & Harrison. The charm of real craftsmanship in wood and steel.

A modern single shot......in my case a Ruger No.1 in .338 Mag, is my longer range alternative here in the Mountain West.

I was packing my Ruger #1 until my daughter and I walked into a grizzly's living room. Huge packed down bed
with piles of bear crap all the way around it like turrets on a castle and the weeds and undergrowth packed down.
It was REALLY eerie. That was the last time I packed that .218 Bee while out hunting deer.
