BRNO ZKK 600 in 9,3x64
      #344665 - 30/08/20 01:40 AM

Hello,

I want to look, as close as possible, to a BRNO ZKK 600 in 9,3x64.
By the way, do any of you have one? If so, I will appreciate to see some pictures of the rifle, the details of the magazine box and its capacity (think it can get 4 cartridges).
Thank you very much!

PH

What are you using for a base action? Not easy to duplicate the ZKK look with just any 98 Mauser due to the dovetails on top of the receiver. You could do it with a ZG-47 or even a '49 or later Brno 21/22 action and get close to the look. I have ZKKs in 270 and 30-06 but no 9.3.

Hi T.John,

I only want to take a look at an original ZKK 600 9,3x64.

Thanks!

Hi PH. 9.3x62 was one of the standard calibres for the ZKK600 and it held 5 rounds. I haven't seen one in 9.3x64 but the factory did far more calibres on request than they advertised. Good luck with your search.

Hi Hunter,

Thank you very much! I have a ZKK 600 in 9,3x62. With its original magazine leaf spring the magazine accept only 4 rounds. I change it for one of a Mauser 98 and, because its geometry, it allows one more round in the magazine!! I think an original ZKK 600 9,3x64, would accept only four rounds. More than enough, to me!

Best Regards

PH

Interesting. I have an image of a Brno brochure which lists the 9.3x62 as taking 5 rounds. Must be variations between individual rifles.

May be. Or its mean 5 cartridges, 4 in the magazine + 1 in the chamber. In my BRNO, clearly, with the original magazine spring was impossible to load 5 in the magazine. The thing is because the middle part of that leaf spring is longer in the BRNO than in the Mauser 98. So when compressed, that longer part takes room and doesn't allows to load that 5th cartridge. I will try to show this with pictures.

Best!

PH

My original BRNO 9,3X64 holds four down.

Thank you trshev. Your BRNO is a ZKK?

I've heard of a 9.3x62mm & the 10.75x68mm in the ZKK600's - but never a 9.3x64mm, that would be a very rare bird indeed!
Could you post some photos if possible trshev?

Hello 93x64,

If I remember well Mr. DORLEAC showed one or said something about one. I can't find the thread.

Hello PH,

I am currently converting a ZKK from 30-06 to 9.3x62. Please do show some pictures of the magazine spring arrangement if you can. I may look to do the same modification if it allows an extra round in the magazine.

A question for you. Is there a reason you are stepping up to 9.3x64 from your 9.3x62? I would think the '62 would be plenty for any Red Deer you would come across.

Hello Rhodes,

I will take the pictures for you.
I am totally happy with my ZKK 600 9,3x62. For my uses, I don't need a 9,3x64. Loaded at similar pressure and same barrel length, there are no more than 100 f/s between them. As I have a nice .375 H&H (Winchester Pre 64 made in 1954), a notable step up from the 9,3x62 (200 f/s with all bullet weights) I am covered.
My question was only "academic"...!

Thank you!

PH
