For whatever it is worth, some of you may be familiar with a poster on AR...John S

John has a few Echols Legend rifles one of which is chambered in 375 Wby. It was with considerable resistance that Echols agreed to do the 375 Wby.

On two of John's trips to Africa he had a 375 H&H and his mate had a 375 Ackley Improved. John found the 375 Improved to be superior in performance to the extent to get the Echols Legend done in 375 Wby.

John also has two Legends in 300 Wby, one being a lighter barreled rife and the other a heavier barreled rifle. On the surface it could appear that the 375 Wby was a case of "matching" but after having corresponded with John for several years both by phone and email he is not a person that is into "matching" for the sake of matching.

It is also interesting that in Saeeds last couple of trips his 375/404 has been loaded with 300 grain bullets at about the velocity that one can get from 375 Wby or Ackley Improved.

To spend the money on an Echols Legend in what would be a very unsaleable calibre, especially in an M70 based rifle like the Echols, does lend some weight to John's observation in the field that the 375 Improved was superior ot the standard H&H.

Mike
