Dying Buffalo Gores Trophy Hunter Twice In Final Act Of Revenge
By Natasha Ishak

The father-of-five survived with two deep wounds in his leg — but the buffalo didn't make it.

The 35-year-old was not put off by the incident and claimed that he will return to the hunt once healed.

Atrophy hunter in Australia experienced the brute strength of a wild buffalo when he was gored twice in the leg by a 1,700-bound bull that he shot for sport.

The incident left him with a “Coke can-sized” wound in his right leg.

According to the Daily Mail, 35-year-old Chris Mcsherry has been bow-hunting for 20 years. During a trip with a buddy at Port Bradshaw over the weekend, Mcsherry came across a prize buffalo that he quickly shot several times.

Mcsherry, underestimating the buffalo’s might, waited confidently for the animal to drop dead from his attack. But the bull charged him instead.

“I managed to turn and get about three steps in before he was on my back and gored his horns into my upper thigh, pushing me forward,” Mcsherry told local news outlet NT News.

A closer look at the deep wounds in Mcsherry’s right leg.

The buffalo’s revenge was not yet over, however. It lodged another defensive Mcsherry’s way, plunging its horns through his right leg. The buffalo then raised Mcsherry up by his gored thigh.

“That’s when I hit the ground and he put the horns into me again, picked me up by the right leg and flung me about three meters,” Mcsherry recalled. The father of five was thrown a third time and it’s unclear what eventually stopped the buffalo’s rampage, but somehow the hunter managed to escape and roll a few feet away.

The 35-year-old was quickly rushed to Gove Hospital where he received surgery for his injuries.

“The buffalo left me with some decent wounds,” Mcsherry said almost proudly, “there’s an eight-inch gash right under my bum.” While Mcsherry was lucky to have survived the incident, the vengeful buffalo died from its wounds.

The near-death experience has done little to cull Mcsherry’s penchant for hunting, however. According to an update on his social media:

Buff is dead I’m alive (this time) and hope to be back with my family and friends soon thanks for all the well wishes on other posts I appreciate the love and support and will live to HUNT another day.

Chris Mcsherry claims he will not be deterred by this incident.

The father-of-five’s desire to go back to hunting after nearly losing his life isn’t that surprising. Apparently, this attack wasn’t his first brush with death. The avid hunter previously survived being chased by a crocodile while on a spearfishing trip.

Only time will tell what fate has in store for the hunter. Next time, it might not be a can-sized hole in his leg.

Next up, read about the trophy hunter who was fatally gored in the groin by the herd mate of the buffalo he’d just killed. Then, see why these park rangers were forced to kill a baby buffalo.

If bow hunting buffalo, the hunter should have a friend backing him up with a proper rifle.

JB/larcher planned to bow hunt a water buff bull with me. JB having bow hunted elephant I was confident he knew what he was doing. But I was backing him up with a .450 NE double rifle. At close range if things go wrong, you are ffffed.

As it turned out JB choose to use a rifle, as the buff on the cattle station were hard hunted and very very hard to get so close to use a bow , unless one was lucky and stumbled onto them.
