Hello Folks,
The double-bug has returned, and I'm thinking of selling most of my rifles to fund a double rifle. I like really light rifles,and with two barrels and two firing mechanisms,I kind of doubt if I can find what I want at a price I can come anywhere near making. But I'll never know if I never ask.
The cartridge for this gun would be small caliber, definitely not more than 7x57R, and a 6mm or 6.5 mm cartridge would work as well. The game will be wild hogs.
Can you help me with ideas?

Tough, for an existing rifle.
6x57R or 6.5x57R would be interesting rounds - for wildcats.

Fanzoj made a double rifle weighing as a guess about 2 3/4 lbs. Price tag was several hundred thousand Euros though which might be a factor unfortunately.
Chambered in .17 rimfire possibly. On a thread on NE. I will resurrect it.
I think a 7x57R would be very dandy. A 7x65R very achievable. 6.5x57R's certainly exist as vintage rifles. And even 6.5x53R per another thread.

Hi Fellows,
I'm studying the information you provided. Thank you. Wow - 2.2 pounds! That's lighter than I thought possible. I'm looking to get down to five pounds, to which I'll add a six-ounce Leupold 2.5x Ultralight scope (I like them).

As Daryl said "Tough, for an existing rifle." The beautiful very light doubles shown above all look to be somewhat expensive for a feral hog rifle.
Size and weight and caliber aside, this Beretta .45-70 is a very effective wild hog rifle that was made by a former member of this forum. Even slow 300 grain.458 bullets make big, fatal holes in game:
However, it is not for sale and if for sale it would be several thousand $.
So, if I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, have you considered trying an inexpensive larger and more common caliber double to try to see if you really like hunting hogs with a DR? If so, there are several options, but probably the least expensive is a .45-70 Baikal. For example, here is a link to one recently acquired by an Internet contact in Austria:

That is one lovely piece of kit there Casper!
So what if it's not a H&H etc, its your rifle & frankly if it does the same job then good for you!
Certainly has nice engraving as well - I really like that small filigree style

In the "You Can Afford It" range Id look for either a Valmet O/U or even cheaper a Baikal. The Baikals were light and available in 223, 308, and 30-06.

This is the auction description: High quality Renato Menegon O/U double rifle, Waldberg Model, 7.65R mm cal., 24” barrels, blue and case hardened finish, checkered deluxe wood stocks, single trigger, red hard rubber butt pad, #01980. This gun is inoverall like new condition showing approx. 99% + of its blue finish to the barrel assembly and approx. 99% + flame style case color on the receiver; minty bores, tight, crisp actions, excellent wood stocks withfine checkering and beautiful graining. Hard to improve upon and showing outstanding workmanship. Est.: $3,500-$7,000.
It came to me for 2200 dollars and could leave the same way.
This forum probably has rules on selling things and if you are interested the rules would have to be respected.

List it on the classified ads forum. Most rules relate to Aussie gun sales, as those laws apply more to where the forum is based. A reason we insist on the state in Aust where a member is located. There is some official guff about a statement being also required, eg licence numbers and a transferring licensed dealer.
If in the USA, you need to comply with your own laws as they are relevant to you.
PS Post up some photos of your rifle on the forums. So we can see it. I have not heard of that model and make before.
