Yeah - those "stock" Enfield (& Lee Speed) bolt extractors will work from .45/70 rims on down to .22 Hornet (5.6x35 Verling?) without any modification.
Amazing actions.

Post-war ingenuity would have put meat on the table at least.
More like Great Depression than Roaring Twenties in its execution. Make do with what's available.

the 5,6x35R Vierling was a 22 Win CF loaded with nitro and a jacketed bullet, it was the inspiration for the 22 hornet. as the name sugest it was the cartridge for the fourth barrel in a Vierling combination gun.
