Bloody amazing what a uni-mog can do.
The Army here did a test bloody years ago in a creek bed, rocks & water every where, the brass thought it was a fluke - so the crew did it again, but in reverse!
That's why we have then in the defence force(s) here!

Wow! Although not off the shelf that is amazing!

Two stage supercharger to get it higher? Like the P51.

That one looks better.But still driving on established vehicle tracks. Half way through so far and they are driving onto a glacier. For a half second you get to see the rocky field next to the glacier. Lots of tracks on it as well. They MAY be from the unimogs.

I have seen some cool campers made from unimogs. Expensive I would think. What sort of fuel economy would they get? Pretty much can go lots of places except where there a lot of trees and branches! As their height will hit the tree branches over outback tracks.

What's the purpose of the spare tyre on the carrier so far forward? Balancing the rest of the vehicle?

Am I cynical if I point out to the right of the unimog at its highest achieved point, there are a LOT of tyre tracks or other vehicle marks???

Why are they towing the second unimog for so much at the end?

I was amazed by Peru. I expected far different mountains, high with snowy peaks. But they are very dry.

ONE HUGE FACTOR not evident in watching a video, is how ffffing hard it is to function at those attitudes.Even a few steps leaves one gasping. Time for some cocoa leaf tea ...

Noticed the field of gravel & the tracks. Looked like a runway. Too high for me & my one ton Ford.

It is part of their claimed "variable center of gravity balancing” systems."

Don't know why all the fan fare, nothing a T-Model Ford wouldn't do.........................with a couple of donkey's ( or should that be llamas) pulling it

Other than marginal difficulty of the terrain is there any reason vehicles don't work well at that sort of altitude?

Humans of course do have difficulties due to lack of oxygen.

Does the lack of oxygen affect diesel or petrol engines? They do have air intakes.

The end up the slope is difficult. Because of the angle and lack of traction. Use of a winch as they do.

The driving on the ice or salt (?) field does look mean. Raised spike like protuberances.

Anything that need oxygen to operate will suffer at higher altitudes. Hence the use of Superchargers set up to work at higher altitudes in WW2 aircraft. They stuff more air hence more Oxygen into the cylinders so the engine breathes more efficiently.

Of course. Thanks. But I wonder about performance of say an offroad vehicle. And what altitudes does it become a problem at?

Not that it usually matters seeing the difficulty of the terrain and slopes.

My 500cc Yamaha was still doing fine at 5,500ft. asl, although running rich. The Dodge Ramcharger didn't like that altitude at all.
My F350 Diesel did fine at 12,000 or 14,000ft. asl or whatever the continental divide in the USA is. I was pulling a trailer at 120kmph as well
so, a specialty vehicle also with computer and variable air/fuel mixture, would like work a lot higher.
