Nicely done, Steve. Really nice swamp on the barrel too. Did you draw file that in, as in change it?
What's the calibre?

Hi guys

it's a 62 caliber. The barrel is a Standard Colorain "jaeger" contour, but I did draw file it a bit myself to give the waist a bit more shape and drop it backwards about 2" But most of the lines you see on it are close to how I got the barrel. The stock is 100% hand made and I like to slim the wood to follow the lines of the metal, so that is the reason I like to file the waist back just a bit.
By shaping the for-stock that way the rod channel will have a slight bend and it gives a very nice shape to the profile, but more importantly, it puts a side-load to the rod so it never jumps forward in recoil, and it also never wiggle loose when climbing over deadfalls or scrambling up hills.

It's a Chambers Round face.
English in styling, but I have pictures of 7 original Jaegers from the 1755 to 1770 era that have round faced "English style" locks, so when the customer asked for one I said "Sure, why not".

Steve that is a lovely piece, love the double tapered barrel and the way the ramrod curves. I have an original jaeger, percussion conversion in 54 that I am working up and a late mates jaeger that he made for his wife in .45 with a small silver lock and a lot of heavy wire inlay. I may rework the rifle one day and instal a jaeger style lock with the curved plate, it is not large enough for a round faced lock. They are fun to shoot and it is interesting to see the lineage that the American long rifle came from.

Cheers

Gordon
