SxS is rather elegant, isn't it.

Now that is an elegant shotgun. If I had the money that would be residing at my place.

I'll have to have a look or ask Marc what they price these art. The rifles are 125,000 ... dollars, euros, pounds, I forget.

Surely the shotguns are cheaper.

Lotto proposition only, but it had better be a mega lotto win ....

Pretty rifle, classic, beautiful. The engraving is very nice, especially the grouse. And the colour case hardening well done.

I do wonder about the rising third bite "hood", what do you call the bit the the rising bite locks into?

Is all that necessary on a shotgun?

Does it get in the way of quick loading or removal of cartridges, if the shotgun is not an ejector?

Might make a .500 NE stronger, but does a shotgun need it?

However, still a very nice shotgun. And lots of customers like the RB Rigbys. I plan to show a lot more.

We also need more shotgunning and shotgun discussions on NE.

Unfortunately, since the lead ban for migratory game birds here, I've pretty much lost interest in shotgunning. Our bird hunting for grouse is as well done with a small bore rifle or high powered air rifle.
I do love those high class doubles, though.

Love double shotguns..all I have used for the past 25 years on upland game..sadly..none of this quality...but..still had lots of fun..not sure I would have more fun frankly carrying one of these..would be too worried to scratch it..

I currently own a Field London gun - likely mid 1880's.
Nice damascus bls. with some minor engraving and most of the colour case hardening still there, likely 90% or 95% & with hammers, no chokes. Bores are in very nice shape.
I used it for the black powder trap shoot at rendezvous last fall in the ctg. event - placed second - 1 bird lost, dang. It seems to like 75gr. 1F and 1 1/4oz. 7 1/2's in both barrels.
Of course not even in the same ball park with the Rigby or most other English guns.

Years ago I owned a vintage Rising Bite in 12ga. Gun was built in 1889 and rebarreled in the 1960s. That is one I regret selling.
